FAQ
Answers about moments, notes, groups, sync, import/export, and privacy.
What is toldly?
toldly is a local-first organizer for people, moments, notes, contacts, reminders, and shared spaces.
What is a moment?
A moment is any entry with a date, time, duration, repeat, or reminder. What many apps call an appointment or event is called a moment in toldly.
What is a note?
A note has no date. If you add a date or reminder later, you will find it as a moment.
Why can I not find my dated note under notes?
Because toldly treats it as a moment. Anything with a date belongs in Moments and the calendar.
Do I need an account?
No. The essentials work without mandatory sign-in and offline.
What is sign-in for?
Sign-in is optional for private cloud sync, backup, and groups. Google is prepared; Apple and Microsoft follow.
What are groups?
Groups are shared spaces for moments and notes. You can join by invitation code, and every group has its own color.
I joined a group but do not see entries. What should I do?
Pull down in any tab to refresh, or restart the app.
How do time zones work in toldly?
toldly separates floating times from absolute points in time. Floating times stay tied to the local clock, while absolute times adjust correctly for travel, calls, and international planning.
Does toldly use ads or tracking?
No. toldly is planned without ads, tracking SDKs, or advertising profiles.
Can I export my data?
Yes. toldly supports backups and exports such as JSON, vCard, ICS, CSV, and text.
